“The Ministry is considering the implementation of the “SOS button for tourists” security system, which will work in areas without Internet coverage. This is a domestic development,” Marzhikpaev said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
The minister explained that the button will be in the form of a watch and will be issued to tourists at visitor centers. The initiative is planned to be implemented by the end of the year.
“According to preliminary estimates, about five thousand buttons will be needed. Just like a clock, press a button and a signal will be sent through the satellite that something has happened, an emergency situation, we need help,” explained the head of the department.
