Accounting committee fixed annual growth of gross foreign debt

Astana. May 24. KazTAG - The gross foreign debt of Kazakhstan has been increasing every year,  at the beginning of January 2018 this figure reached $ 167.5 billion, said Natalya Godunova, chairfigure of the Accounting Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan for control of implementation of the Republican budget.
"Kazakhstan's gross foreign debt is growing every year. As of January 1 it amounted to $ 167.5 billion. If we consider the government debt together with the external debt of large quasi-public sector entities, in 2017 it amounted to over $55.5 billion," she said at the presentation of the Government's  and Accounting Committee report on implementation of Republican budget in 2017.
At the same time, she reminded that last year the president was instructed to "build a system for monitoring and controlling of external and internal loans of the quasi-public sector and to bring order in this field"
"The Government's decision in April this year to agree on the volume of external borrowings of the subjects of the quasi-public sector, monitoring and control over external and internal debt is an important, but in our opinion, insufficient measure. Along with this, there is an increase in the debt of local executive bodies," she said.
