Akim elected in new city of Alatau

Konaev. May 10. KazTAG – Arken Utenov has been appointed as akim of the new city of Alatau in the Almaty region, the press service of the akimat reports.
“Arken Utenov has been appointed to the post of akim of the new city of Alatau. Previously, he worked as Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” reads the statement.
Utenov is a member of the Presidential Youth Personnel Reserve.
Arken Utenov has experience in the country's banking sector, as well as in various positions in government agencies, including the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On January 9, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the creation of the city of Alatau. The territory of the new city of Alatau is 88 thousand hectares, which is larger than the area of Almaty - 68,200 hectares. The population of Alatau is 52.7 thousand people.
