Belarus notified of violation of rights of EAEU partners in connection with collection of indirect taxes

Almaty. May 23. KazTAG - Belarus has been notified about violation of the rights of partners in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in connection with indirect taxation at a meeting of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (ECE) on May 22, reports the ECE press service.
"It was decided to notify the Republic of Belarus about the need to respect the rights of the union’s member states. The reason was unequal conditions for the collection of indirect taxes: according to the Tax Code of Belarus, a VAT rate of 10% was set on the crop, beekeeping, livestock and fish farming products produced on its territory. At the same time, when importing certain types of food products from the EAEU states, including grain, many types of vegetables, fruits, certain types of fish products, an increased VAT rate of 20% is applied, " reads the statement.
At the same time, in accordance with the agreement of the EAEU, the rates of indirect taxes in mutual trade when importing goods to the member states should not exceed the rate of indirect taxes that are imposed on similar goods when they are sold to a particular member state.
