Bishimbayev may be sentenced to 25 years or even life imprisonment - lawyer

Astana. April 24. KazTAG – Former minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev, accused of murdering his common-law wife Saltanat Nukenova with extreme cruelty, may be sentenced to 25 years or even life imprisonment, said lawyer Dzhokhar Utebekov.
“The highest justice is that Bishimbayev buried himself! Organized an immoral PR campaign. The whole process took the blow and  twisted. Despite his temper, he never lost his temper. And at the very end, he forgot that on the night of the murder he was making creepy videos while drunk, and gave away the password to his phone. And then he made a mistake, frantically searching for an explanation of their origin. (...) Given the politics, the outcome is now a foregone conclusion: 25 years (maybe even life imprisonment). Baizhanov – 4 years,” writes Dzhokhar Utebekov.
He notes that even he, a professional lawyer, was greatly affected by the trial.
“I have a lot of empathy for clients. But I don’t let their pain pass through me. This is an important skill for a professional. Here,  even I earned vicarious trauma from horror for Saltanat and her brother. From the first day there was a feeling that pure, infernal evil was pouring down on us from the screens. The ugly organization of the process also played a role in my psychological trauma, especially at first. It's a shame for her. A lot of knowledge - a lot of sadness,” said the lawyer.
He believes that the opportunity to directly observe the process has increased the legal culture of society.
