Growth of drugs trafficking fixed in south regions of Kazakhstan

Astana. May 24. KazTAG - Growth of drugs trafficking has been fixed in the south regions of Kazakhstan, said Vladimir Volkovich, Senate deputy.
"475 drugs crimes were fixed in 2017 in the Kyzylorda region, 120 higher year on year. Since 2012 until 2017 the number of drugs plantations increased to 84 in the Kyzylorda region," he said reading deputy request to the minister of interior affairs.
He said so called Indian cannabis is gaining popularity.
"The climate conditions of the Kyzylorda oblast are favorable for this sort. According to MIA, the narcotic content in the Indian cannabis is five times higher than in Chu cannabis," he said.
He said 342 people were convicted for cultivation of prohibited plants in 2016-2017 and three months of 2018.
