It is planned to tighten punishment for gross speeding in Kazakhstan

Astana. April 18. KazTAG –  It is planned to tighten the punishment for gross breaking of speed limit in Kazakhstan; the corresponding norm was included in the bill adopted by the Majilis in the first reading on amendments and additions to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Road Traffic” on the organization of traffic of certain types of vehicles and digitalization of road safety.
“About speeding, this will not affect law-abiding citizens, those regulations that relate to speeding by 10, 20, 30 or 40 km per hour. There is a rule that tightens liability for grossly exceeding the speed limit. Conventionally, over 60 km per hour. This is the category of citizens, there are not many of them by the way, who, at a speed limit of 60 km per hour, drive in the city at 120 km per hour or more. If the driver exceeded the speed by 9-10 km per hour, whatever responsibility there was, remains the same. This is about those who rudely and demonstratively violate traffic rules. We are still discussing sanctions,” said Igor Lepekha, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the Majilis.
