Nazarbayev calls trust crisis as serious threat to classic journalism

Almaty. May 23. KazTAG - Trust crisis poses threat to classical journalism, said Nursultan Nazarbayev, president of Kazakhstan.
"In the conditions of the changing world, aggravation of contradictions and new technological opportunities mass media can become a detonator of conflicts escalation or a factor of global restraint and prevention of international tension. Here comes high responsibility of journalism. Trust crisis becomes a serious threat to classical journalism as audience tend to give preference to alternative sources of information represented by independent bloggers and social networks," read Dauren Abayev, minister of information and communications of Kazakhstan, the welcoming message of president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the opening ceremony of XV Eurasian Media Forum.
He said the competitive advantages of traditional mass media will be based on high professionalism and quality of content.
"Only correct and authentic information and verification of fake news can attract audience, strengthening of mass media authority as a source of objective information. For this it is important to open the channels to information access and support an open dialogue which is a key condition for cooperation and settlement of all the problems. The profession of a journalist must serve to society and represent high ethical and moral qualities," he summed up.
