EDB region accounts for just over 2% of global petrochemical industry

Almaty. April 17. KazTAG - The region of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) occupies only 2.1% of the world's petrochemical industry and is positioned as a supplier of raw materials: mainly oil and gas, said Arman Akhunbaev, head of the industry analysis center of the bank's analytical directorate.
“Despite the fact that the petrochemical industry in the Eurasian region is developing at a fast pace, today the region occupies only 2.1% of the world petrochemical industry and is positioned primarily as a supplier of raw materials, mainly oil and gas,” he said.
According to him, the industry is experiencing global structural changes associated with an increase in the depth of processing of petrochemical products. There is a shift in demand to developing countries, primarily to the Asia-Pacific region and India.
